Top Club chooses Mantis for accurate weed control
A prestigious golf course has discovered an accurate and more economical way of controlling weeds after taking ownership of sprayers from the ultra low volume Mantis range.
Head Gardener Siri Whiteman and her team at Wisley Golf Club use the sprayers for weed control in their landscape beds. They were supplied to the Club by Kent-based Sayell Equipment who is the sole importer of the Mantis range to the UK.
The range was designed for the controlled droplet application of herbicides in narrow bands. The shielded sprayhead, coupled with the controlled droplet size and downward projection of the spray minimise the risk of vapours drifting to any neighbouring plants.
With the smallest sprayer in the range weighing just 2.8kg, the Mini-Mantra is lighter, easier and more comfortable to use than a hydraulic backpack sprayer and has a spraywidth of 10-45cm. The Mantis range is also more economical. A 1:1 part ratio of herbicide and water provides a low rate of chemical use without any loss of efficiency when killing weeds.
