Rhizomatous slender creeping red fescue and browntop bent reproduce vegetatively in this mix enabling them to spread through the perennial rye-grass to develop a dark dense and attractive sward. The cultivar of perennial rye-grass used is particularly noted for its slow regrowth, resulting in signifcantly reduced mowing requirements.
