A new digital age dawns for BASIS and its members
Professional standards and certification body BASIS has re-launched its website with a fresh new look and improved user-functionality
"In an increasingly digital age, our members need an effective online platform to support them," says BASIS Managing Director Rob Simpson. "The new website is truly comprehensive and has information for a wide range of audiences. From youngsters aspiring to a career in agronomy right through to experienced agronomists and trainers. The new website contains details of trainers and courses as well as providing members with online management of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)."
The re-launch of the website coincides with an increase in the number of Professional Registers available. These include a new BASIS Amenity Training Register for Amenity Advisers, Amenity Sprayer Operators, and others responsible for pesticide use in the Amenity sector; and a new Nominated Storekeepers (NSK) Professional Register for those storing and supplying pesticides. These Registers aim to improve knowledge and provide independent recognition of good operator standards.
The BASIS website is now more user-friendly with an improved navigation system which gives users quick access to the relevant professional register, types of courses available and lists of approved trainers in their area. The revised design and layout better conveys the sectors covered by BASIS and the wide range of qualifications and courses on offer.
For members and trainers, a secure log-in area provides quick and easy access to their records online, through an improved interface. Trainers can upload new events and both trainers and examiners can access an additional secure resource area, for document downloads.
Professional Register members can continue to manage their CPD records, including viewing their progress against annual targets for the year, plus submitting points from other activities. Members can also view and pay their BASIS subscriptions.
The new website forms part of the organisation's 'Only BASIS can...' campaign to raise its profile and increase awareness of the wide range of courses, qualifications, assurance schemes and professional registers that it provides to the agricultural, horticultural and amenity sectors.
Rob Simpson, Managing Director of BASIS says: "When you look at the wide range of services - training, certification and assurance schemes - that we provide for the industry, you realise that there is no organisation with as much expertise or experience as BASIS."
