Charterhouse shows more of the Iceberg

STAND W15

Charterhouse Turf Machinery are rightly famous for the unsurpassable range of Verti-Drain machines. These are so popular that its 'Verti-Draining' has become a generic term for the deep aeration of sports turf. However, they represent only the tip of the iceberg, and Charterhouse will give Saltex visitors the chance to see much from the company's ever-expanding portfolio.

Verti-Drains work by driving solid or hollow tines down to a maximum depth of 16in (400mm), introducing air into the soil and rejuvenating turf. A unique parallelogram configuration provides a 'heave' effect, breaking up compacted ground. Besides the established tractor-mounted units, Charterhouse will unveil a new Hydrostatic Ride-on machine.

Exploring the rest of the Charterhouse extensive range of products, Saltex visitors will see the company's substantial fleet of overseeders, encompassing nine models for maintaining all types of sports and amenity turf. New to the line-up are versions with 1.5 and 2m working widths, for fairways and larger sports grounds.

The breadth of Charterhouse's range is shown by products such as Active brushcutters and chainsaws. Ranging from 26-55cc and including hand-held machines and a backpack version, they are designed to give particularly low vibration. Charterhouse report strong interest in these tools from professionals wanting to ensure their equipment meets forthcoming Health and Safety regulations.
Other recent additions include the line-up of heavy-duty Marina rotary mowers. Walk-behind units are available, together with a ride-on lawn tractor. Topping the range of walk-behind units are the 'MX' series, featuring eye-catching stainless steel decks that resist rust and provide great strength. Cutting height can be adjusted between 20-65mm. The Marina lawn tractor is available in four variants, with cutting widths from 67-102cm. Three models have conventional gearboxes, while one has hydrostatic transmission for infinitely variable speed control.

Also represented on the stand will be the company's Charterhouse Richmond Division, specialising in essential equipment for foresters and amenity managers working to preserve our natural environment. The award-winning Charterhouse Richmond catalogue will be available to visitors, offering products from safety harnesses and pruning equipment, to protective clothing and other vital accessories.

Demonstrating their commitment to protect the environment, Charterhouse Richmond will make a donation to The Tree Council for each order placed at the Show. "So it's in all our interests for people to bring long shopping lists with them!" says Philip Threadgold, Charterhouse's Managing Director.

Charterhouse Turf Machinery will exhibit on stand W15 at Saltex, which runs from 7-9 September at Windsor Racecourse.
