DD GrassMaster selected for Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium

Press Release

For over a decade, Dennis Bergkamp has plied his trade on the famous turf at Highbury. As a fitting end to his glittering career at Arsenal, the 37-year-old Dutchman will have his testimonial at the new Emirates Stadium. The match against Ajax will be the first game played at Arsenal's new home and the new pitch has a lot to live up to.

Highbury always had a reputation for providing one of the best playing surfaces in the Premiership and Arsenal's new pitch at their state-of-the-art Emirates Stadium will ensure that this reputation remains intact. Designed and constructed by Hewitt Sportsturf, the pitch will incorporate DD GrassMaster, the leading natural grass re-inforcement system on the market. Already installed at seven other Premiership clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, DD GrassMaster will ensure that the surface remains true and level for the players all year round.

John Hewitt of Hewitt Sportsturf takes up the story "Arsenal are one of the leading clubs in the country and it is vital that their playing surface remains in top condition throughout the season. When designing the pitch, it was important to incorporate the best possible reinforcement system and with DD GrassMaster already installed at 15 professional clubs in the UK since 1996, it has a proven track record and will ensure that the Arsenal pitch performs to the highest level at all times of the year."

About DD GrassMaster

A computer-controlled machine injects over 20 million artificial grass fibres about 20 cm deep into a natural grass pitch. As the roots of the grass grow, they intertwine with the artificial fibres, anchoring the grass roots to give a very stable grass surface. Both UEFA and FIFA have approved this grass system for football games at the highest level.
