A conference for the New Emerging Golfing Nations
As part of FEGGA's commitment to working with and assisting the new emerging golfing Nations, FEGGA, will in November stage a Conference to help support their establishment and growth for the future. The aim of the Conference will be to focus on the needs of these Countries as they establish an industry that will be sharing the responsibility of delivering sustainable golf. The Conference will be held at the Kompas-Lovec Hotel in Bled, http://www.kompas-lovec.eu/ Slovenia during 17 - 19 November 2008 and will be open for anyone working or representing the Golf Course industry. The Conference will be aimed at all areas of Golf Course Management covering subjects on:
Golf Course design:
- The importance of choosing the right architect
- Building the right golf course
These two seminars will be delivered by The European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) and will focus on how to choose the right Architect and what to look at when making this important decision. It will also focus on building the right design of golf course and how that decision impacts on the future maintenance needed and long term quality
Project Planning and Specification through to Construction and grow-in of the Golf Course:
- New golf course development guidelines
Presented jointly by the EIGCA and the Golf Environment Organisation (GEO)
- Understanding the importance of good specification including Drainage and Irrigation
Presented by Sylvain Duval, Golf Course Superintendent at Polaris World.
Education:
- A focus on Greenkeeping Pan European Standards
- Setting up Greenkeeper education
- Gaining practical experience
These subjects will be covered by FEGGA and the European Greenkeeping Training Unit (EGEU)
Environment:
- A guide to Good Environmental Management
- Accreditation
Presented by Jonathan Smith, CEO and representatives of the Golf Environment Organisation
Best Golf Course Practice:
- Creating and managing good Sustainability
- How Benchmarking can really assist you and your golf course
Keith Duff of the R&A Golf Course Committee will illustrate the role of sustainability and how benchmarking can really assist you on the golf course.
The Slovenian model:
- Looking at Slovenia as a Case Study
