Double A TradingJohn Deere turf dealer The Double A Trading Company of Cupar, Fife, has been appointed to take over the Aberdeenshire area from the previous dealership, Alpha Plus Groundcare.

At the same time, MacGregor Industrial Supplies, John Deere's turf dealership based in Inverness, has also had its area of responsibility extended into Morayshire.

Run by dealer principal Sandy Armit and his wife Aileen, Double A was first recruited to the John Deere dealer network in October 1999. The business was recently voted Professional Turfcare Dealer of the Year at this year's 2011 Industry Awards for land-based machinery dealers, organised by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) and trade magazine Service Dealer.

In addition, service technician Christopher Mason was voted Apprentice of the Year in the same awards, which recognise sales and service excellence among dealers in the land-based equipment market.

Sandy Armit has over 25 years experience as a groundscare dealer in Scotland. The existing business, operating from purpose-built premises on the Eden Valley Business Park in Cupar, employs 30 staff to sell and service the full range of John Deere professional and homeowner products in Fife, Tayside and Clackmannanshire.

"We are delighted to extend our sales territory northwards into Aberdeenshire, and we are actively looking for new premises to give us a local base," says Sandy Armit. "We will also be taking on new staff to help us continue to provide full sales, service and parts back-up to all existing and new customers in the area. These include golf courses such as Royal Aberdeen and the new Trump International Golf Links Scotland, and the two main local authorities Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Council."
