Windlesham 007AA fleet of 10 E-Z-GO RXV golf cars has been delivered to Windlesham Golf Club, the 18-hole parkland course situated near Bagshot in Surrey. The fleet was delivered by local E-Z-GO dealer Ernest Doe and Sons and replaces a fleet of petrol-powered cars operated by the club's former professional.

Owned by the Lumley family with the day-to-day running under the guidance of managing director Peter Lumley, the new fleet is part of an ongoing 10-year strategy to upgrade all aspects of the club. Over the past two years the clubhouse has been completely refurbished, fairway irrigation has been installed, tee boxes enlarged and improvements made to the greens.

Stewart Judd is the assistant general manager and commenting on the new vehicles said, "The fleet was delivered in June this year and has performed really well. The most significant difference is reduced fuel bill; these electric buggies are very efficient and put energy back into the batteries when the brakes are applied. We no longer have any issues with the collection and storage of fuel and, of course, they are much quieter when out on the course."

"We could have leased the vehicles," added Peter Lumley, "but decided on an outright purchase as they come with a five-year warranty and have very good residuals. My family has lived on this land since 1946 and we are very protective towards it. Therefore we like to build lasting and durable strategic associations that will improve the sustainability of the land and Windlesham Golf Club as a business.

"As part of implementing our long-term improvements we have recently submitted planning applications for a clubhouse extension and the enlargement of our greenkeeping facilities following the replacement of our golf course maintenance fleet, as well as making further improvements to the course. The purchase of the E-Z-GO golf cars is part of this strategy and they will help increase income streams from our core golf services. Already we are seeing our membership growing strongly on the back of our recent investments as we look to become a one of the top-end accessible clubs in the area."
