 Dirt and debris accumulate on synthetic surfaces through a variety of ways, a major one being the trafficking of dirt onto the surface by players' footwear. You will notice how the area around the gateway will quickly become contaminated (sand infill will darken). This in itself represents a health and safety risk as the area will become slippery, compromising player safety. Eventually, over a period of time this contamination will continue to spread into the playing area of the pitch. At this stage it is likely that the sand infill will need to be removed and replaced with fresh sand.
 As one of the UK's leading authorities on maintaining synthetic pitches Technical Surfaces have realised this problem and designed entrance matting to reduce this risk. The matting incorporates a dense polyproprylene carpet which acts to brush the footwear while trapping the dirt within the pile. It is backed with a heavy pvc coating with is punctured with holes at 125mm centres to aid drainage and can therefore be placed directly onto the pitch surface, paved area, tarmac etc. The weight of this backing keeps the mat in place and stabilises the carpet. The matting can be easily cleaned with a brush or periodically power washed to remove the collected debris.
 The matting is available in up to 2m widths and can be cut to any lengths or shapes. If wider sections are required the matting can be laid side by side to form larger waiting areas perhaps outside the facility or used to improve existing pathways leading to the pitch.
