First Ransomes HR-3300T out front rotary mower for Northern Ireland

The Environmental Services department at Lisburn City Council has taken delivery of the first Ransomes HR-3300T rotary mower in Northern Ireland, from local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, Broderick (NI) Ltd.

The new mower is the latest out front, single deck rotary mower from the Ipswich-based turf equipment manufacturer. Better mowing efficiency, more evenly dispersed grass clippings, the ability to cut a wide variety of grass, low maintenance, operator storage, reduced noise and vibration and better operator ergonomics are all integrated into the HR-3300T.

Roy Hanna, Assistant Director, Environmental Services said, "We are performance targeted to mow up to 32 cycles per year operating, on average, 10 days per cycle and cutting at a height of 50mm. We maintain 132 sites across the area, which involves some 200 hectares of grass. We have a variety of surfaces to maintain so we require a machine that is equally versatile."

Thomas Spratt, Grounds Maintenance Supervisor commented, "It's more cost-effective to run rotary machines, as they are more robust and less susceptible to damage, which means we have less downtime. The quality of cut is very good and less end of season maintenance is required when compared to cylinder mowers. It has excellent kerb climbing ability and the deck flips up almost vertically for easy maintenance."

Ken English, who operates the new machine maintaining different grassed areas in cemeteries, along roadside verges and at roundabouts across the city concluded, "Initially the machine looks big, but in reality it isn't. It's very comfortable, there's excellent visibility of the cutting deck and there's storage areas built-in, which is something I've never had before."
