Gaelic football pitch built in Portugal by SIS team

Sport surface specialists SIS (Support In Sport) have just completed a Gaelic football pitch for the Oceanico Group at the Amendoeira Golf Resort in Portugal.

They turfoceanico group 012.jpged an area of 12,000 square metres for the pitch, which will be dual use for Gaelic football and soccer.

The pitch will be marketed to professional international soccer clubs for pre-season and mid-season training camps.

Chief executive officer of SIS, George Mullan, said: "This has been a major project and one which we were delighted to be involved with. The SIS team did a great job and worked in partnership with the Amendoeira Golf Resort staff to ensure a successful handover of the completed project."

He said the pitches would be first used in the spring and future use would include major international football clubs using the training facilities.

The completed project was handed over to Steve Richardson, Oceanico director of golf course maintenance, and Russ Wilson, assistant golf course manager. Present at the handover was award-winning English football groundsman Alan Ferguson, head groundsman at Ipswich Town FC, who said the pitch was superb and would be maintained by exceptional equipment available to the golf resort staff.
