D&G 0053.JPGDumfries and Galloway Golf Club has purchased a fleet of four E-Z-GO RXV golf cars from their local dealer Rickerby Ltd of Carlisle. These latest buggies from the world's largest golf car manufacturer, replace the club's previous LPG-powered fleet and will be used by members and the increasing number of visitors to the 128-year old club.

Keith McCartney, head greenkeeper comments, "Our previous golf cars have proved very popular with the members and for some of the more elderly it has enabled them to continue playing longer. With visitors, its one of the first questions they ask, do we have buggies available? They are a valuable resource for the club.

"We moved over to electric, and to the RXV in particular, because they are more cost-effective and easier to manage. The onboard chargers are a good idea and they have enabled us to put external charging sockets outside the Pro Shop without hardly any additional expense. The greenkeeping team make sure that they are clean and tidy and the Pro Shop staff are responsible for overnight charging and hire arrangements. It's a system that suits us and works well.

"The members have really taken to them and particularly like the automatic braking on slopes and the additional control they have going downhill. From a management standpoint these safety features are excellent."
