charterhouse vdCharterhouse is to use BTME 2013 to introduce the Redexim Verti-Drain 1517 to the fine turf maintenance sector. The model is the very latest in a continuous development programme and part of the company's new high speed 15 series featuring lighter weight machines. Ideal for golf green work and offering a productive 1.76m operating width, the 1517 is suitable for use with tractors from as little as 28hp. It can also work to a depth of 150mm (6"), but weighs in at just 520kg.

Work area capability ranges from 3136 m²/hr to an extremely efficient 7128 m²/hr dependant on forward speed and tine spacing. Standard components include a set of 12mm x 150mm (0.5"x 6") solid tines with accompanying tine holders, PTO, a trunk with tools and user manual and support legs. Optional extras include hollow tines, turf hold down fingers and rear roller.

One man who knows the capabilities of the Verti-Drain 1517 is Peter McMorran, Head Greenkeeper at Farnham Golf Club, who has recently taken delivery of his club's machine. Peter comments, "our existing machine was only capable of working down to a depth of 3½". As a result we were experiencing water dispersion, and compaction issues and we were struggling to control flooding on greens.

I had seen a Verti-Drain 1517 in action at another club and was impressed by its capabilities. During a demonstration last November we worked at a depth of 5" and 3" spacing and were able to complete work on all eighteen greens in just two days, which included transportation and tidying up. The results have been outstanding. Compaction has been relieved through the profile of all greens, our flooding issues have been resolved and the overall performance of our greens has been greatly improved."
