Image 1 - Researched, Engineered, Developed.jpgFor customers who have the grounds staff on site to perform the day-to-day requirements of maintaining their synthetic sports surface, Technical Surfaces recommends investing in some dedicated in-house machinery, such as our R.E.D Primary Care Package. Small enough to manoeuvre through a single gate, but powerful enough to carry out the required daily or weekly activities to keep your surface in perfect shape, our R.E.D Range has been fully Researched, Engineered and Developed to meet the needs of any grounds team.

The Package comprises a compact tractor unit (13 or 18HP), with Drag Mat and Flexicomb attachments designed to tackle issues of infill compaction and distribution. Other attachments are also available, including a Light Decompaction Rake, Sweeper Collector (with filter plate) and a Granular Infill / Salt Spreader, allowing customers to select the ideal in-house maintenance machinery for their facility.

At Technical Surfaces, we understand that issues of funding, poor access or even just a lack of awareness about the importance of maintenance can all be potential stumbling blocks to implementing the correct in-house tasks. With the R.E.D Range, we have successfully resolved these obstacles and can offer our customers the complete in-house maintenance machinery package, whatever their circumstances.

Image 3 - Campden Hill LTC.jpgOne of our customers to benefit from the R.E.D Primary Care Package is Campden Hill Lawn Tennis Club, central London's largest private tennis club. When we were contacted by the club to put together an appropriate maintenance programme, their six artificial grass tennis courts were due to be replaced in the coming months; until then, they needed to keep the existing courts in good condition for their members. They also identified this as an ideal opportunity to learn and practice the correct maintenance techniques and routines on these courts, before transferring their knowledge onto the new facility.

With access to the courts only available through the clubhouse, club staff believed their maintenance options to be equally restrictive. To satisfy the club that we could provide the solution, we held an introductory meeting on-site to discuss their requirements, and subsequently arranged for a machinery demonstration to take place on the courts.

Having identified the R.E.D Primary Care Package as the perfect partner for the club's in-house requirements, we then faced the task of delivering the equipment. Making use of the temporary access ramps constructed for building works, we were able to transport the tractor unit and all attachments with relative ease.

Club Manager, Paul Holloway, was full of praise for our efforts: "We are thankful for the work Technical Surfaces have put in to ensuring we could get the right in-house machinery for our needs, despite the many access problems we unfortunately suffer from. The condition of our tennis courts is of the highest importance to us, and with the R.E.D Primary Care Package, we feel confident that we can now fulfill the maintenance tasks required to keep them at the high standard which our members expect."

Image 2 - Countax.jpgRoutine maintenance is vital to ensuring both that owners of synthetic facilities receive a good return on their initial investment, and that players can benefit from a quality sports surface for many years. A successful maintenance programme can be achieved by striking a balance between essential daily and weekly tasks that can be fulfilled in-house (such as Drag Brushing, litter picking and leaf/ debris collection), and the more specialist cleaning processes completed by Technical Surfaces.

Technical Surfaces remains committed to offering the best advice and most cost-effective solution for our clients. Having carried out a comprehensive assessment of your needs and in-house resources, we would be happy to formulate a package of services and machinery accordingly. We can also include training packages and even discuss the possibility of the 'hire' of more specialist equipment.

We encourage our customers to take an active role in the maintenance of their synthetic facility, and offer demonstrations on the correct use of such machinery. We also run a series of seminars in conjunction with the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) to help our customers gain a better understanding of the need to carry out regular maintenance.
