TORO after sales service clinches it for Essex GC

Here's the North Weald greenkeeping team celebrating the arrival of the Essex golf club's three new Toro mowers.

The 18-hole championship course has been hailed as one of the region's most improved in recent years, with the new Groundsmaster 3500-D trim and surround mower, Groundsmaster 4000-D rough mower and Reelmaster 5510-D fairway mower further raising the standards of course presentation.

Course manager Tony Barker has been getting to grips with the three new arrivals since summer last year. "We'd been using various makes of machinery, but when we needed new mowers we decided to go with Toro," he reveals. "The mowers are much more robust and give a far superior quality of cut. The boys all love driving them, too, which is important."

But what really clinched it for Tony was his confidence in the service he'd get from Toro and distributor Lely. "For me, it was all about the after-sales service. I've known Richard [Freeman, Lely's retail area manager] for a few years and so I knew I'd get the service I needed from him. Now if there's a problem, there's someone here to help straight away. People I've dealt with before haven't provided that.
