TGAlogoPressPDF.jpgTurfgrass Growers Association (TGA) members gathered at Thornhaugh near Peterborough for their annual members meeting on the 24th November and it was hailed as one of the best ever by those attending.

Chief Executive of the TGA, Tim Mudge, said: "The programme for the day was varied and interesting to TGA members not just for the industry insights, but also for their businesses going forward. We had presentations from experts in cloud computing, social networking and formulating competency frameworks for staff recruitment and appraisal. It was also good to see that the number of people attending increased from previous years and they had travelled from all over the UK and Ireland to be at the event."

The day kicked off with seed supplier members giving the meeting their views on the production and supply situation. 'How to improve your chances of getting your company news into the media' was covered by Kate Lowe, editor of Horticulture Week, and members of the TGA Council gave reports on the new TGA website, the 2011 Turf Show and focused R&D projects that are being considered.

Tim Fell, TGA Chairman, commented: "The quality of the speakers and the presentations was first class and the reaction from the members was universally positive. Members realise that keeping up to date with innovations in technology and honing management skills are vital to remaining competitive in today's business environment."

It was announced at the meeting that every TGA member will receive the results of the annual survey of growers so that they can each benefit from information about production trends in the UK. The results of the survey will be discussed at the spring meeting, the date for which will be released shortly.
