Bookapitch Launch

Press Release

Local sports club managers and league/fixture secretaries where invited to the launch of Wakefield Council's new free Bookapitch online pitch booking system on Wednesday 11th August at the Glasshoughton Xscape.

The event featured a demonstration of the system, thought to be the first of its kind in the country and developed by management consultancy CCCL, which will ensure easier booking and payment for both fixture secretaries and people making casual bookings.

Bookapitch will mean:

  • Less fixture congestion
  • A faster cancellation service via email and texting to individual players pcs
  • The possibility to move fixtures to other local venue's
  • The user has an online reporting system and can email results and match reports to the local press
  • Less telephone calls for both clubs and leagues
  • Free use of the facility (with exception a small charge for SMS messages)
  • Less data input for everyone

Cllr Phil Dobson, Wakefield Council's Deputy Leader, said: "We are delighted to be the first Council in the country to launch this scheme.

"Sports club managers spend a great deal of time on the actual administration of booking pitches and ringing around players when there is bad weather or pitch conditions, as well as being time-consuming for Council staff.

"This system makes communications much easier and should improve the use of pitches within the District to everyone's benefit. We are trying to spread the word about the system as the more people who are on board, the better."

Aiden Norris, CCCL consultant, said: "Bookapitch takes the pain out running grassroots sports teams. Having personally played and managed football at the grassroots level for many years, and wasted countless hours in actual administration, I am confident that the next generation of players and managers, can enjoy an efficient management system for administering and co-ordinating."

Bookapitch can be accessed at home on a pc at sports.wakefield.gov.uk
