BTME was the location for the launch of the newly-formed RTF Turf Group of four UK turf growers accredited by Barenbrug to grow its new generation rhizomatous tall fescue (RTF). RTF is an innovative product which has been developed as the perfect solution for many golf, sport and landscaping applications. It offers high tensile strength, fast establishment of turf and rapid recovery. It has excellent wear, shade, salt and frost tolerance, and with its rooting depth capacity of 1.5 metres, it's ideal for areas where soil stabilization is an issue. Other features include consistent and excellent colour throughout the summer and winter and an ability to flourish in all soil types.

Members of the RTF Group reported extremely positive feedback on RTF at BTME and a steady stream of enquiries. Tim Fell, of Tillers Turf, said: "BTME was a great success. RTF was a useful talking point, with everyone coming onto the stand expressing interest. The main focus was on its ability to withstand both drought and waterlogging, and the fact that it requires less input of fertilisers and water was very appealing to golf course managers. Bunker banks, fairways and, possibly, tees are areas where RTF could be used."

Alex Edwards, of Inturf, commented: "There was a lot of interest in RTF at the show. Our stand staff said it's clear from visitor reaction that this product will do well."
