Poole 038AOne of Continental Landscapes' premier grounds care contracts in Borough of Poole, Dorset is supported by a large fleet of mowing equipment from Ransomes Jacobsen, the Ipswich-based turf equipment manufacturer.

Continental Landscapes Ltd was formed in 1989 and is a member of the Dutch based Krinkels Holding BV. Employing in excess of 900 people, including over 100 professional management and supervisory staff, the company now has a turnover of £30 million derived from its core business in landscape maintenance and construction.

The fleet at Poole, which comprises Ransomes HR3300T out front and Ransomes ZT220D zero turn ride-on rotary mowers, was delivered at the beginning of last season following the award of the contract to Continental Landscapes.

Continental's original fixed-term contract with Borough of Poole was signed in 1999 and with various extensions ran through to 2008. The re-tendered contract now includes additional duties and an extended geographical area, which encompasses Poole Park and Upton Country Park.

Poole 048ASimon Legg, the Borough's Greenspace Maintenance team leader, said "Over the past 12 years we have established excellent relationships with Continental's team, led by Mike Parkinson, their Senior Contracts manager. It's an open and transparent relationship which has been built on trust and a mutual understanding of the Borough's goals for greenspace management. Part of the remit is to cut grass, not corners, so we need our contractor to have the equipment that maintains standards befitting of our town."

Councillor Judy Butt, Portfolio Holder, Public Engagement and Participation added, "We are ever mindful that we must deliver our environmental agenda and set a clear example to our residents with well managed and attractive green space. We are very impressed with Continental's high standards of work. In this current difficult economic climate we have to finely balance both costs and carbon emissions and the electric Ford Transit vehicles provide for both. Continental have succeeded in ensuring that all Poole's green areas are kept as premier open spaces for all to enjoy in the Borough."
