This is the third area of SowGreen® that the school has had installed, following on from the successes of the 2007 conversion of a wooded area behind the main playground, and the installation around an existing tyre park in 2008.
As Greystoke has already discovered, SowGreen® is the perfect low-maintenance alternative to natural grass, providing the ideal solution to any problem areas that are otherwise inaccessible. SowGreen® has already enhanced more than 100 schools, nurseries and public playgrounds across the UK, offering year-round use on a soft, textured surface that is both safe and clean for children to play on, more aesthetically-pleasing than tarmac or bark chippings, but without the added hassle of mowing, feeding or weeding a lawn.
The latest addition to Greystoke's SowGreen® collection, a 200sqm play area incorporating a variety of shapes and numbers in vivid hues of pink, blue, purple and orange, has been fitted as part of an overall development of the pre-school nursery. The nursery's existing mobile buildings were converted to a permanent facility by Coventry-based Central Site Accommodation, and the school was keen to enhance the outdoor play area with SowGreen® to allow the children to play outdoors all year round, as Head Teacher Mary Thornton explains:
