Club Secretary Richard Jourdan comments,
"Our old Wiedenmann had provided sterling service for the past 12 years, especially when you consider the nature of operation, punching holes into the soil to relieve compaction and improve drainage. It's a testament to the build quality that it lasted for such a long time, but maintenance and repair costs were becoming a drain and the most effective option was to purchase a new machine."

Head Greenkeeper Gordon Shield added,
"We have completed work on the tees using the new Terra Spike and already they are showing the benefit. We will be aerating the fairways until the middle of April to rectify the problems of a long hot summer, followed a reasonably wet winter. This has resulted in large areas of moss and we need to improve the drainage to eradicate the moss before reseeding to promote new grass growth.

"15 of the holes are on the original common land with three holes, the current 7th, 8th and 9th, on land purchased in 1965 and which is parkland in nature. The Terra Spike has to cope with the varying soil structures and does so admirably."
