Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club has been announced as the winner of the recent Pitchcare and Dennis Mowers competition.

To celebrate the 100th issue of Pitchcare magazine and Dennis Mowers' centenary year, the two companies joined forces to offer Pitchcare readers the chance to win a brand-new Dennis cylinder mower.

Through a live draw, Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club in Rotherham, was selected as the winner and Groundsman Carl Moreton revealed his delight.

"I saw that a few other cricket clubs had already entered and so I thought I'd give it a shot," he said. "Four or five weeks later I got a phone call to say that we had won, and I was very shocked. I thought it was a wind-up!"

Carl chose the Dennis Razor Ultra and a few weeks later took delivery of his brand-new mower.

Superbly balanced and ideal for fine turf surfaces, the Razor Ultra has an operating width of 560mm (22in) and an 11-blade cutting cylinder for a perfect finish. An ultra-short wheelbase ensures easy manoeuvrability and excellent performance, even on undulating surfaces. The Dennis Razor Ultra also encompasses the simple 'no tools required' click height adjusters for quick and easy operation.

It has already made a difference according to Carl.

"The Dennis Razor Ultra has replaced two machines for us, because we used to have one mower which was used to cut the strip, and then we had to get another one out of the shed to cut the square. In this respect it has been a huge time-saver and I can now use this time to work on other tasks."

"The ease of use is brilliant, and it takes just seconds to change the cutting height," continued Carl. "We have 50 plus games a season, so the better equipment you have ensures a better playing surface. It is the best machine I have ever used."
