Rochford Garden Machinery has launched a brand new concept in mower deck design.

The Ultra-Mow is a completely new deck of exceptional and innovative design and incorporates a special manufacturing process giving customers numerous benefits not only in the performance but also the appearance and durability of their mower.

The Ultra-Mow system works in a variety of ways, involving manufacturing the deck in a single action and adding a tough ABS insert into the pressing. This eliminates the traditional welding process giving the finished product a more striking sleeker look, improved performance and increased durability.

With a lack of welding seams improving the airflow and therefore the grass collection and mulching ability, the design also makes the deck less likely to block during use. The process also means the chassis is less prone to rust and so confident are Al-Ko of the durability of the new product they are offering a 5-year homeowner guarantee on the deck.

Other advantages of the new deck are an offset cut allowing users to cut up to walls and fences and over lawn edges with ease, reducing the need for trimming.

Initially the Ultra-Mow deck is available on the 2008 Briggs & Stratton powered Classic and Highwheeler range of Al-Ko mowers.

The Classic line-up is a 10-model stable of mowers including 42, 46 and 51cm cut units. With new livery and colour coded grass boxes the Classic is a 3-in-1mower that can cut, collect or mulch when the mulch plug is inserted, the plug being standard on the 51cm model and optional on the 42 and 46 cm units.

On the Highwheeler mowers smart five-spoke sports wheels set off the good looks of the 2008 models which boast new features such as ergonomic
adjustable handlebars and central seven position height-of-cut adjustment.

A bigger 70 litre re-designed grass catcher is also added to these new power- driven units.

Retail prices of the Classic and Highwheeler mowers range from £174.95 to £379.95 inc Vat and are available only from Rochford's network of garden
