Slope mower proves its metal in Sheffield

FGM Claymore, UK Distributor for the Shibaura compact tractor range, confirm continuing high levels of demand for the product range. Recently, through Mexborough based Golf & Turf Machinery, Sheffield City Council have taken delivery of three Shibaura SG280 Slope mowers.

Commenting for the dealership, Glen Sawyer said, "Sheffield is very hilly and the council had identified a particular health & safety problem when working on some of their more difficult areas. We arranged a demonstration day which proved the performance capabilities of the SG280, both on slopes and for a range of other work tasks across the borough. The council had been using a mix of equipment, including pedestrians and remotes to fulfil the seven week maintenance cycle they work to"

Melvyn Riley, Area Officer for Sheffield City Council added "the Shibaura SG280 Slope Mowers are to replace other tractors with mid mounted decks. Two will be working in the Gleadless Valley area of the city which has a large number of banked areas. The other will be working in the Stocksbridge area, again replacing a mid-mounted rotary unit. The demonstrations put on by Golf & Turf Machinery proved to us both the SG280's performance levels and also, given their capacity to work safely at up to 30degrees, that our operator safety levels will be greatly enhanced.
