0 Slope mower proves its metal in Sheffield

Sheffield take deliveryFGM Claymore, UK Distributor for the Shibaura compact tractor range, confirm continuing high levels of demand for the product range. Recently, through Mexborough based Golf & Turf Machinery, Sheffield City Council have taken delivery of three Shibaura SG280 Slope mowers.

Commenting for the dealership, Glen Sawyer said, "Sheffield is very hilly and the council had identified a particular health & safety problem when working on some of their more difficult areas. We arranged a demonstration day which proved the performance capabilities of the SG280, both on slopes and for a range of other work tasks across the borough. The council had been using a mix of equipment, including pedestrians and remotes to fulfil the seven week maintenance cycle they work to"

Melvyn Riley, Area Officer for Sheffield City Council added "the Shibaura SG280 Slope Mowers are to replace other tractors with mid mounted decks. Two will be working in the Gleadless Valley area of the city which has a large number of banked areas. The other will be working in the Stocksbridge area, again replacing a mid-mounted rotary unit. The demonstrations put on by Golf & Turf Machinery proved to us both the SG280's performance levels and also, given their capacity to work safely at up to 30degrees, that our operator safety levels will be greatly enhanced.

SG280 1Simon Richard, UK Sales Agent for the Shibaura compact tractor range added. "0perator comfort is a priority and well catered for with low noise and low vibration levels, fully adjustable horizontal rolling seat to compensate for working angle and a twenty six litre fuel tank for more efficient working.

The Shibaura N843 Diesel engine delivers stability of power output even under the most demanding workload whilst fully complying with all current emission regulations. The SG280 weighs 890kg with 443kg to the front and 447kg to the rear and this solid 50-50 weight distribution, allied to the 1500mm wheel base and low centre of gravity, delivers the stability and safety of operation required when at work on steep inclines.

This machine is a true solution to the work-angle problem and has the benefit of being a replacement in a fleet rather than an 'add-on' making it one of the most cost effective solutions for working on slopes"
