Speedcut builds tees, bunkers and water features at Leatherhead Golf Club, Surrey

Speedcut Contrators are carrying out extensive work as part of a large renovation programme at the prestigious Leatherhead Golf Club in Surrey.

The club, which celebrates its 109th anniversary this year, is a fine example of a mature parkland golf course with ancient oak trees lining the fairways.
Speedcut are creating new tees, ditches, streams and ponds and improving bunkers, pathways and drainage on the course - working alongside the club's architect, James Edwards.

Renowned for its fabulous greens, Leatherhead Golf Club has hosted PGA events and is a regular venue for Surrey County fixtures.

The three-year six-hole renovation programme is part of a continuing improvement process at the club.

Leatherhead is a subtly-contoured course which is a popular attraction for golfers, being only a few miles from Kingston-upon-Thames, Leatherhead and Dorking

Barry Pace, Speedcut contracts manager, says: "The Leatherhead is a great course to work on with real potential to bring out the best of its features and layout. We are delighted to be working with the owners, architect and greenkeeping team on what will become one of the better golfing venues in the South.

"James has designed some cracking bunkers and features and they will help make this a good, but fair, test for golfers. Along with the drainage, tee and path works it will enhance the whole experience for members and visitors."

Speedcut are also working on a number of other golf courses in the south, including Chislehurst Golf Club in Kent - where they have installed artificial pathways and new tees - and Sundridge Park Golf Club, also in Kent, where tees have been renovated and currently a new practice area is being constructed.
