Verti-Top 1200’s reputation leads to business development

Maldon in Essex based ETC Sports Surfaces have over 25 years' experience in the construction, installation and maintenance of artificial sports surfaces and MUGAS (multi-use games areas).

Their client base includes councils, universities, schools, colleges and the private sector.

In October 2012 as an integral part of their business plan, they purchased a Redexim Charterhouse Verti-Top 1200.

Bradley Wells, Business Development Manager for the company said "a major part of our business is the work we carry out on annual rejuvenation contracts for artificial surfaces through our separate maintenance division.

We were well aware of the established reputation of the Redexim Charterhouse range in the area of regeneration equipment and took the decision to acquire the Verti-Top 1200 as an additional service for our clients.

For any 3G, we recommend an annual sand filled or dressed service rejuvenation treatment which takes about a day to carry out.

As this work cannot be carried out in damp or wet weather, most work falls into quite a small weather window or school/college holiday periods.

We opted for the 1200 model which, with a working width of 1.2m and a weight of just 360kg, is a smaller machine than the 1500 but is easier to transport from job to job, can be used in more confined spaces but still has all the features of its stable mate.

It can also be towed by a tractor of a minimum of 22hp and 400kg lift capacity. We use it in conjunction with a Kubota tractor which we purchased at the same time as our Verti-Top and which we now also use for a range of other tasks".

The Verti-Top 1200's rotary brush cleverly removes surface litter and the top 2mm-12mm infill layer.

Then, with the use of a vibratory mechanism, it filters out any debris.

Front positioned adjustable tines, loosen and decompact the surface ahead of the brush for optimum cleaning, while a floating top link adapts to any undulations on the surface.

The remaining cleaned infill is then re-distributed evenly over the surface and smoothed to an even finish by the rear brush.

During the whole process the Verti-Top 1200's powerful vacuum system lifts any fine particles such as dust, hair and fibres into the filter collection bag. This avoids the possibility of any unwanted materials being returned to the playing surface and impacting on playability.
