Agricultural Spec compact tractors join Massey Ferguson's range

Massey Ferguson has added four agricultural specification models to its 1500 Series compact tractor range.

Aimed primarily at the agricultural, horticultural and landscaping sectors, as well as vineyards, orchards, smallholdings and estates, the new tractors are known as the MF 1529A, MF 1532A, MF 1540A and MF1547A, rated at 28, 32, 38 and 46 DIN hp respectively.

All four "A" spec tractors come as standard with a forward-folding mid rollbar, category 1 three-point linkage with draft and position control, selectable four-wheel drive, rear differential lock and oil-immersed brakes. Also included is a clevis drawbar, 540/1,000 rpm rear power take-off and an external spool valve with the option to add a further external valve, if required.

The two smaller models both have nine forward, three reverse speed mechanical transmissions while the MF 1540A and MF 1547A tractors have a 12 forward, 12 reverse Synchro Shuttle gearbox allowing synchronised changes between the four gears in each of three sub ranges as well as from forward to reverse, and vice versa.

At 1,100kg on the MF 1529A and MF 1532A, 1,270kg on the MF 1540A and 1,580kg on the MF 1547A, the three-point linkage lift capacities enable a wide variety of rear-mounted implements to be handled and used. The operation of powered implements is enhanced on the two larger tractors by the inclusion of independent power take-off engagement with a "soft-start" function giving gentle take-up of high inertia loads.

As with all Massey Ferguson tractors, comfort and ergonomics feature strongly in the standard specification of the four new compacts. The spacious semi-flat operator platform with fully-adjustable spring suspension seat can be accessed from either side and the steering wheel can be adjusted also to suit.

All main controls fall conveniently to hand with controls and switches colour-coded for easier operation and there is a large display panel providing important tractor data clearly and quickly to the driver.

Equipped with agricultural cleated tyres, full road lighting and power steering, the new MF 1500 Series agricultural ("A") specification tractors are available for demonstration now through Massey Ferguson's appointed national dealer network.
