Andy McLeod joins the TTS Team

Total Turf Solutions Ltd (TTS) has appointed Andrew McLeod MSc, F Inst G. The former Cranfield University research engineer has been selected to help drive forward the TTS Synthetic Sports Division. Fresh from completing an Engineering Doctorate into 'The Maintenance and Management of Synthetic Surfaces' and the combined MBA modules he is eager to start work on TTS projects.

Andrew McLeod says: "Having previously worked with both Alan Lewis and David Bates, I realise it is a great opportunity for me to join such a forward thinking company. I feel that the combination of my skills and the latest research will help the already established team but increase the level of service we can offer our clients".

Alan Lewis MSc, Director and Senior Technical Consultant at TTS said: "We are delighted that Andy is joining us. His appointment endorses our company ethos, to employ consultants who combine years of practical experience and knowledge with the highest qualifications. TTS is continually expanding its services and the synthetic division which has seen major growth. The appointment of Andy enables us to provide the latest research and scientific methods in this highly technical area. Our clients will have the advantage of being made aware now of new proven maintenance testing methods and the latest in pitch designs".

Andrew McLeod MSc, F Inst G has worked in turf culture for over fifteen years with experience in both the private and public sectors working in local authority and independent schools.

In that time he has achieved qualifications which include a Masters Degree in Sports Surface Technology from Cranfield University, where he won the best student of the year award, the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) National Intermediate Diploma and is putting the finishing touches to an Engineering Doctorate from Cranfield University. Andy is also an instructor for the IOG Cranfield University on modules within the MSc and Pitchcare. In addition he has recently been made a Fellow of the IOG.

Alan continues: "TTS recognises the need for specialist knowledge and it is vitally important to us that our clients to have one complete resource and leading research. At the understanding of maintenance into synthetic sports surfaces is not fully appreciated but now with the proven research the industry can independently assess how to best manage its pitches on a performance and cost basis. Performance Quality Standards (PQS) are enabling us to control design and construction processes and deliver the required surface performance. Our systems are achieved through production detailed feasibility studies and specifications based on comprehensive site investigations. Understanding the needs of a client also allows us to select the correct carpets and construction methods not just for now but long term goals".
