Another successful day of international cricket in Cardiff

Another positive result for England against Australia at the Swalec Stadium.

Ricky Ponting's men have bad memories of the Welsh capital after their World Cup loss to New Zealand in 1999, the humiliating 2005 defeat to Bangladesh and the dramatic Ashes draw last summer.

The misery continued last night as England claimed a four-wicket win to open up a 2-0 series lead and celebrate a seventh successive one-day victory.

Stuart Broad claimed four for 44 on his 24th birthday with Cameron White dominating the Australian innings of 239 for seven with an unbeaten 86.

With injured fast bowler Ryan Harris missing, Australia's inexperienced attack were already shorn of their first-choice seamers, Brett Lee, Peter Siddle and Mitchell Johnson, while Glamorgan's Shaun Tait was in the crowd.

A 240 target seemed unlikely to test England with the foundations laid by a half-century from captain Andrew Strauss (51) and another impressive innings from Eoin Morgan (52).

Glamorgan also impressed again with a successful Ashes audition as they bid to attract another England v Australia Test to the Welsh capital in 2013 or 2016, with those decisions being made later this year.
