Paul Hanson, Chairman of the Arboricultural Association's Scottish Branch, is set to deliver a seminar on common fungi and their implications for the arborist at Scotland's largest arboriculture showroom later this month.

Paul, who is also Managing Director of Arboretum Internationale, is a well respected and highly experienced arboricultural contractor and consultant, having held previous roles as Arboricultural Consultant with Scottish Agricultural College and as Arboricultural Manager for Continental Landscapes, Nottingham.
He is to be the main speaker at an 'Arb Talk' advisory afternoon and evening at SGM's Arboriculture Showroom in Inverkeithing, Fife on Thursday 29th March from 3pm-9pm.

Suppliers of a wide range of products from the world's leading arboricultural brands, SGM offers the latest innovations in tree care equipment and accessories both online and from its fully stocked showroom, which happens to be the largest arboriculture showroom in Scotland. SGM also offers machinery hire and servicing plus LANTRA training and a LOLER Inspection Service. In addition to its arb products and services, SGM supplies an extensive range of commercial groundcare machinery as well as domestic garden equipment.

The Arb Talk event has been organised by SGM to bring together arborists from across Scotland to share their collective knowledge and experience. Paul Hanson will be discussing hazard and risk associated with decay fungi. He will focus on basic fungi ID of significant species, how the decay affects tree and tree work safety, and who is responsible for making safety decisions at various levels (i.e. tree owner, consultant, contractor).

His seminar will be followed by a talk from Andy Hancock, SGM's Arboriculture Business Manager, who will review recommended operational solutions relating to the topics covered by Paul.

Andy and Paul will be joined by other arboricultural specialists, including representation from ISC, Stein and Yale, to offer advice on safety and operational procedures in an aim to encourage excellence in the industry.

Arb Talk is open to all, but pre-registration is required. Call 0800 4320440 to book a place or email enquiries@sgm-uk.com. A free buffet and refreshments will be offered to pre-registered attendees and discounts will be available on certain items in the showroom.
