Bedford & County GC runs an Impressive Toro Fleet

After using Toro for over 10 years, Bedford & County Golf Club has signed an exclusive five-year deal with the machinery maker's distributor, Lely UK.

The 18-hole course in Bedfordshire, renowned for its high standard of upkeep, relies on a fleet of Toro machines to keep its century-old course in perfect condition.

Wanting to invest in more machinery, the course decided to demo all the big names. However, there was only one brand for the job, as course manager Geoff Fenn explains. "All the boys were unanimous in choosing Toro. From their high quality to their outstanding performance, Toro machines are excellent - I would even go as far as saying that they have improved the quality of our course."

The club has recently invested in a Workman HDX utility vehicle. "The HDX is fantastic - you just get on the machine and away you go! It's a really easy drive and causes few disruptions to the golfers." The golf course also has four mowers: a Greensmaster 3250-D, a Reelmaster 3100-D Sidewinder, a Groundsmaster 3500-D and a Reelmaster 6700-D.

The key piece of Toro equipment for Geoff is the ProPass 200 topdresser, which he says is "superb". "It was worth the investment because of its speed and ease of use -we wouldn't be without it. As well as being an outstanding machine, and another example of a top Toro product, it has significantly improved the surfaces on our course - we always use it for topdressing our greens."

He concludes: "We invest in Toro because it's the best - the high quality and performance of the machines frees up man hours, causing us less work. On the rare occasion there is a problem, we can phone our local dealer in the morning knowing they will be out later that day to fix it. We definitely intend to invest in more Toro equipment in the future - budget allowing!"
