Black sheep cut golf course grass

A flock of Hebridean sheep has been drafted in to control rough on a links golf course in western Scotland where mowing is prohibited.

The 260-acre Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club, Argyll, is built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Environmental restrictions mean that the grass cannot be cut by the traditional method of mowing.

Greenkeeper Keith Martin brought in the black sheep last week to control rough grasses amongst the dunes.
