Lord PresseBritish Seed Houses' seminars are an eagerly awaited part of the educational programme at Harrogate Week and this year's topic literally goes back to grass roots.

Dr. Fritz Lord, Product Management/R&D Turf Fertiliser from British Seed Houses' partner COMPO Expert of Münster, Germany will speak on the Use of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria for Healthy Turf from 11-11.30am on Tuesday 24th January 2012.

This will give BTME visitors a unique insight into advanced fertilisation for promoting turf grass vitality as Dr Lord explains: "Different biotic and abiotic stress factors such as heat, drought, wear and pathogens often have a negative influence on turfgrass. Advanced stress management is becoming more and more important for modern greenkeeping and the focus of maintenance is to promote the plants strength and vitality to be more tolerant towards these factors."

He adds: "Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGR) have beneficial effects on turf grass growth and the plant's own defence mechanisms. The seminar will deal with some stress factors and the effect of PGR also in combination with special nutrients and trace elements."

The seminar will be an unmissable event for turf managers wishing to make the most of their sward using natural elements, so BTME visitors need to ensure that they are in the seminar room in good time to secure their place.
