Scheduled to open in April 2008, The Renaissance Club will feature an 18-hole course designed by the renowned American architect Tom Doak.
Head Superintendent Paul Seago and his team are busy maintaining the new course to ensure it opens in perfect condition, and the Dakotas are playing an essential part.

"We needed high work-rate machines that could top-dress the fairways, greens and tees on a large scale, as well as filling bunkers and drainage trenches," says Paul. "I already knew about the quality of the Dakotas, having used them several years ago while working at another club, so they were the obvious first choice in terms of performance and build quality. I also had very good links with Adrian Gardner of Double A Trading in Fife, Campey's local dealers, so I knew the service and backup would be excellent."

The club initially bought a 440 for bulk materials handling and application tasks and a 410 for work in smaller areas. However, because of the unprecedented wet spring and early summer, when top dressing and other tasks had to be postponed, they decided to duplicate the order to double up operations and keep one step ahead.

The 440 enables bulk materials to be placed precisely where required, by discharging it either via the back and side conveyors, or by using a front-mounted stone/gravel chute. Its two spinner discharge discs can be adjusted to provide spreading widths from 12-40ft (3.66-12.19m). Independent walking beam axles give a light footprint, avoiding turf damage and enhancing performance on contours.

The 410 model's large spinning discs offer a 9m maximum spreading width for fast treatment of greens. Controls are logically positioned and the rate of application can be adjusted from the driver's seat for perfect results. Spreading width is up to 9m and hopper capacity is 0.65 cu m. Turf tyres are fitted as standard and the machine is available in several versions to suit popular work vehicles and tractors. Digital readouts facilitate adjustment of the belts and spinners to suit the material being applied.
