Colin Plumb Retires
Etesia's UK and Ireland Sales Manager, Colin Plumb has retired after fifteen years' service with the company, firstly as ASM, before being promoted to his latest role. During this time, Colin was responsible for the development and expansion of Etesia's dealer outlets in the east of England and Scotland. In more recent years, he headed the company's growth programme for establishing a network of professional dealers in Southern Ireland.
On leaving school Colin studied as an apprentice design draughtsman and engineer with Whitlock Bros at Great Yeldham in Essex, learning the practical side of engineering before becoming a prototype test engineer and later travelling the world as part of their sales team.
Ever enthusiastic, Colin has forged a career spanning over 32 years in the outdoor power equipment industry, including at one time starting and then selling his own plant hire company. He is well-known to many throughout the trade, initially through his involvement in the setting up of Homelite as a company in its own right. Later he was instrumental in establishing a garden machinery division for agricultural engineers, Salopian Kenneth Hudson, when they won the Roper Ride-on franchise plus distributorship of Ibea and Homelite products.
Commenting on his retirement Etesia's Managing Director, Patrick Vives, says, "With his loyalty and passion for the Etesia brand, Colin has played a key role in adding to the success of our products in the UK. He has a hands-on approach to solving problems, a great way with people, and seemingly limitless energy. I am pleased to say that these talents will not go to waste - he has agreed that after a few months' break, he will return to work on very much a part-time basis to continue the continuity in Eire and maintain the good relationships he has forged with our dealers in that country. Meanwhile we wish him a very happy and well-earned retirement. "
