Curators’ course begins at National Stadium

Press Releasein Cricket

International Cricket Council's (ICC) Pitch Consultant Andy Atkinson commenced a curator's course for local grounds men yesterday, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

Among those present at the course were Minister of Sport Dr. Frank Anthony, Director of Sport Neil Kumar, Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) President Chetram Singh and Vice-President Bissoondial Singh.

A group of 35 grounds men from around the country attended the opening of the seminar which is aimed at sensitizing them on regulating their methods of preparation for pitches, especially those at the National Stadium.

Considering the slow nature of pitches in Guyana, Atkinson last week promised a livelier pitch at the Stadium for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup which begins on April 30.

The ICC Consultant said that he will not be too technical since he will be using his 30 years of experience in the field.
