Dennis service is best for bowls
Capel St Mary Bowls Club near Stowmarket in Suffolk made the switch from a domestic mower to a Dennis Sport pedestrian cylinder just over a year ago and club secretary John Wright says that it has been a highly worthwhile move.
"The domestic mower wasn't doing a very good job due to its light weight and I knew we needed a better machine," he explains.
Other local clubs had recommended Dennis, praising the company's after sales service, so John invited local dealership Tomlinson's Groundcare of Stowmarket to demonstrate a suitable mower.
They were accompanied by Robert Jack of Dennis, and John was impressed by their approach to a relatively small customer:
"Both Tomlinson's and Robert Jack were professional in their approach and treated the sale as a serious one. They make sure every customer feels important."
Having chosen the 56cm (22in) cut Sport, John has been most impressed with the results.
"We have had so many comments on the improved condition of our green. The Sport has made such a huge and noticeable difference. It is a heavier machine which flattens and rolls the ground as well as mowing, giving a very impressive finish," he explains, adding, "A comb assembly on the front of the mower lifts the grass ahead of the blades, giving an even cut. This is very important for bowls as the condition of the ground and the grass significantly affect the game. We can now play much better bowls!"
Part of a team of club personnel who use the mower, John comments that the Sport is very comfortable to operate. "The mower has excellent suspension and there is very little vibration to the handlebars, meaning that it can be used for longer."
