Ashridge Golf Club Blinder CompletedRichmond Golf Club is into the second phase of works in what is a radical re-design of its bunkers.

Architect Tim Lobb has created a visually stunning design which has been brought to life by the course staff, headed by Course Manager Les Howkins.

Due to site conditions, it was necessary to consider the installation of a bunker lining system, and during phase one, completed in 2010, various systems were trialled, albeit not entirely successfully. Golf Course Manager Les Howkins and his greenkeeping team have been monitoring the success of the Blinder Bunker Liner installed at various clubs during 2011 and 2012, and following successful negotiations decided to commit to its installation at their course.

Working in partnership with the course staff, Profusion has successfully installed Blinder in 26 bunkers in this phase of the works.

The Richmond Golf Club Blinder InstallationThe Course Manager is delighted with the lining system, saying: "The quality of the work Profusion/Blinder has done seems to be flawless. They have completed the project in good time and with no mess. They have constantly tidied up as they have moved around the course, which can be a rare trait!." Les added: "They have been courteous to and considerate of our members, all in all a very good team to have on site. Working on the front line, they represent your Company, and they do so with the highest level of professionalism".

Past installations have also provided the Profusion/Blinder team with some very positive feedback. Back in January 2012, Blinder was installed in 12 bunkers at Ashridge Golf Club in Hertfordshire. James Camfield, Course Manager at the club, contacted Blinder needing a solution to his bunker issues which included deer damage, washed faces and contamination.

Website Image"From my perspective, having had 140mm of rain in April and no puddles in the bunkers speaks volumes" states James. "The old bunkers, yet to have Blinder installed, have done the usual, with bunker faces being washed out and the ensuing contamination of the sand, so already I can see that Blinder will be a major labour saver and I am obviously very pleased with the product".

Though it's hard to imagine summer is here right now, autumn renovation plans are already in the thoughts of many course managers as they prepare budgets in preparation. Profusion and Blinder are on hand to assist anyone considering renovations to their bunkers. They offer consultation and practical solutions to all issues relating to problem bunkers, construction, renovation and drainage.
