From pies to pitches: new Football Foundation funding available to help grassroots clubs on and off the pitch
Funding is now available to grassroots clubs and organisations via the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation to provide grassroots football fans with food and drink whilst they support their local teams.

Catering units, named “The Huddle”, won’t only help keep spectators watching their friends and family play grassroots football energised, but will also help grassroots clubs and organisations to generate their own income and run their facilities more sustainably.
Grants of up to £50k are available via the Foundation on the condition that any surplus income generated through the sale of food and drinks is reinvested back into improving the quality of the grass pitches at the site.
Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said:
“Grassroots football isn’t just about what happens on the pitch. It’s about the whole community coming together, rain or shine, to support their friends and family and make new connections that’ll last far beyond the final whistle.
“Thanks to funding from the Football Foundation’s funding partners – the Premier League, The FA and Government, The Huddle will help grassroots fans warm up on cold midweek nights or keep cool during hot summer’s days.
“Any money generated by these catering units will stay in the game by going back into improving the surrounding facilities – turning pies into pitches and teas into turf!”
