A charity that provides social, leisure and learning opportunities to those over 18 with any disability in Norfolk is to benefit following a successfully held charity golf day at Dunston Hall, Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort.

Taking place on Tuesday, September 20 in Norwich, the 2022 Dunston Hall Seniors' Charity Day featured 60 players taking part in a day of golf in aid of the BUILD Charity.

Organised by seniors' captain Steve McKechnie, the four-person team Stableford 18-hole event held at The QHotels Collection venue saw members and visitors aged 55 and over join forces to raise valuable funds for the charity, which is based in Norwich.

In total, more than £6,000 was raised for BUILD Charity with a raffle, putting competition and an auction held after an evening meal all contributing towards the funds. Mulligans were also purchased by players before rounds to make the scoring lower and to help raise even more money for the charity.

The idea for the day came about after McKechnie spoke to a fellow Dunston Hall member who volunteers his time with the charity, and suggested that they would be worth considering as this year's chosen charity.

McKechnie said: "I wanted to help a small, local charity with this year's Dunston Hall Seniors' Charity Day and after a conversation with one of the members who volunteers with the charity and has seen the work they do up close and personal, I realised that BUILD Charity were a great fit.

"Everyone had a great day at the event and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and many new faces head down for the occasion. I'm grateful to each and every one of those who attended and hope the money raised can help those in need in the Norwich area."

The day is one of several charity events held throughout the year across The QHotels Collection network of 21 hotels and resorts across the UK.

Peter Briggs, director of golf at Dunston Hall, Spa & Golf Resort, said: "Here at The QHotels Collection we are always looking to see what we can do to support both national and local charities through special events, like the 2022 Dunston Hall Seniors' Charity Day.

"I'd like to personally thank the team at Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort and Dunston Hall seniors' captain Steve McKechnie for helping to put on such a fantastic event for a great local charity."
