There's no better proof of a satisfied customer than one that keeps coming back for more. So machinery dealer Chris Keitch can be pretty confident that he's providing the right back-up for the right product given that groundscare contractor Art Bailey has been back six times to buy more Landini tractors.

"They've performed well and I guess we've looked after them well," says Chris Keitch. "Because Art would soon tell us if we didn't!"

As groundscare contractor to Taunton Deane Council in Somerset, A E Bailey Plant Hire operates the heavier equipment needed to maintain school and public sports grounds and other amenity facilities around the town, supporting the council's direct labour organisation.

"We do all the gang-mowing, slitting, rolling and harrowing, we haul in soil for landscaping works and operate heavy flail mowers for maintaining hedges and rough ground in conservation areas," explains Mr Bailey. "The tractors we use have to be economical, reliable and comfortable to drive; the Landini machines score on all those points."

The latest tractor to join the fleet is a 92hp Vision 95. It replaced the first Landini Mr Bailey bought, which he says clocked up 3000hrs "without having to put a spanner on it".

The newcomer joins another Vision 95, which is equipped with a loader for handling green waste into a skip at the council's DLO base in the town, an 82hp Vision 80 that operates a gang mower, slitter and other sports turf maintenance machinery, and a 99hp Vision 100, which handles a flail mower-collector amongst other equipment.

The fleet is topped off by a bigger and more substantial tractor, the 134hp Landini Legend 135TDi, which is used with heavy-duty flail mowers, especially on hilly ground where its extra size, weight and power helps keep the outfit stable.

All five tractors feature power shuttle gearboxes, which means operators have fingertip control of forward-reverse selection without having to use the clutch pedal - so regular shuttling with a loader or manoeuvring with an implement is a lot less tiring.

Landini tractors are produced by one of Europe's largest agricultural machinery manufacturers - the ARGO Group - and are supplied and supported in Britain by a nationwide network of full-service retail dealers.
