Hedgehog and fox cub freed after falling to a sticky wicket
It was just not cricket for these cute critters. A fox cub and a hedgehog were left stumped after being caught in the cricket practice nets at Portsmouth Grammar School's playing fields in Hilsea.
Assistant groundsman James Wheeldon arrived at work early in the morning to find a trapped hedgehog, which he and his father Bob, the head groundsman, quickly cut free.
Two days later, a small fox cub found himself on a bit of a sticky wicket when he was caught in another net.
James and his dad didn't bat an eyelid - they pitched in to bail the fox out, too.
Both animals were unhurt but tired by their ordeal and were safely set free after being given some tender loving care by James and Bob.
