Open space management show already on course to be a sell-out.

With over six months to go before IOG SALTEX opens its doors at Windsor Racecourse (6-8 September 2005), the support for this year's event has already reinforced the show's status as Europe's annual flagship event for the open space management industry, and in particular turf care specialists.

Already, 90 per cent of stand space is booked - including big name suppliers, overseas exhibitors and some companies that are exhibiting for the first time, such as Lol Tractors.

Also, a powerful, free education programme focusing on turf care issues is planned, including the latest views concerning the ongoing natural turf versus artificial surfaces argument, to complement the comprehensive displays of products, technologies and techniques being staged by the 400 plus exhibitors.

In addition to IOG SALTEX groundscare equipment 'regulars' such as Allett Mowers, Bobcat Europe, Briggs & Stratton UK, David Jenkins Turf, Etesia, JCB, John Deere, Kuboto, Simon Tullet Machinery, Ransomes Jacobson, Swan Plant, Toro and SISIS Equipment - who traditionally announce new labour-saving products - automotive giants Ford and Mercedes-Benz (UK) will this year be joining the likes of Daimler-Chrysler UK, Toyota (GB), Tata and Vauxhall Motors in demonstrating their vehicles' cost-to-performance status.

Overseas suppliers, too, are recognising that with around 16,000 visitors last year, IOG SALTEX is Europe's premier showcase for their open space management products and services, and the latest news is that OBM tec-Recycling of Holland, Locke Turf Inc, USA and PHM ETS Phillipe Morisse of France will be adding a cosmopolitan feel to the Windsor Racecourse show in September.

With such a line-up of industry luminaries having booked their stands, it's no surprise that visitors like Michelle Cooper of ISS Waterers Landscape, had this to say about the show:

"As one of the largest grounds maintenance and landscape construction companies in Europe, we deal with a wide range of customers - from local authorities and corporate landscape to design and build, and much more. Everything is at IOG SALTEX, especially on the corporate side, which is great when you want to keep in touch with the market."

And according to Fred Deamen, head greenkeeper at Alton Golf Club: "I'm a regular visitor. The show is a good opportunity to see everything and everyone in one place."

Visitors' needs are, of course, always foremost in the minds of the show's organisers and while developments are in place to improve access to the showground - including the introduction of a river ferry for visitors travelling by public transport and those who want to 'park and ride' to avoid traffic congestion - the success of last year's inaugural instant stadium has set plans in motion for the Arena to be a focal point for a higher number and wider range of attractions.

Last year also saw the introduction of the UK Landscape Skills Competition, and the overwhelming success of this event has led to the allocation of a larger area for this crowd-pulling attraction.

Following its 66-year tradition, IOG SALTEX 2005 will again embrace fine turf and sports, turf maintenance equipment, children's play and safety surfacing, contractors, commercial vehicles, leisure and facilities management and software as well as security equipment, and is aimed at everyone involved in open space management - from groundsmen and greenkeepers through to architects, designers and surveyors as well as local authority and leisure facility managers.
