Kenilworth Road pitch undergoes drainage overhaul to help improve surface

The biggest overhaul of the Kenilworth Road pitch in five years is currently in full swing.

New drains are being installed and the top surface is set to be skimmed off the pitch.

Groundsman Richard Bird said: "The state of play is we are putting in a lot of new drains to try and improve the way the water leaves the surface of the pitch and getting it away quicker than it has done in recent years.

"It's quite a big improvement the club have made and it's quite a lot of work and is taking a few weeks to complete.

"We are on a short timescale before the first game.
