Fifty-eight sales staff from 30 UK and Irish dealers attended the recent European launch of the new Terra Spike i-series at the Vila Sol Spa and Golf Resort in Portugal.

This prestigious resort, situated 30 km from Faro in the Algarve was the ideal venue for Wiedenmann UK to launch this latest innovation to the Terra Spike range of deep aerators.

There are three machines in the new i-series - GX, XDi and XFi - all of which will be launched on the Wiedenmann UK stand M11B at BTME in January.

The new GXi is a compact fine turf aerator incorporating Wiedenmann's revolutionary ATC technology, enabling it to work considerably faster than competitor machines without compromising quality. Specially developed for fine turf and designed from the ground up, this compact machine incorporates a new chassis and new linkage and is ideal for 25hp compact tractors and above. The launch model is available with a 1.4 metre working width and has a selection of accessories including a turf retainer, core swath board and comprehensive range of solid and coring tines.

The new XDi is both deep and fast and is the ideal machine for contractors and local authorities with large areas to be worked. The XDi can aerate to a depth of 275mm (11") at speeds up to 3.2 km/h and is available with working widths of 1.6 and 2.1 metres.

The XFi incorporates many of the new features of the GXi including less moving parts and less pivot points. This latest development of the machine which moved the goalposts in deep aeration is available with 1.6 and 2.1 metre working widths.

David Rae, Managing Director of Wiedenmann UK said, "This was the first opportunity for our UK and Irish dealers to see the new i-series, which has moved deep aeration forward yet again. All the machines feature the unique TwinDrive concept with a continuous crankshaft driven from both sides of the machine as introduced on the XF two years ago.

"The springs, crankshaft bearings and anti-vibration systems have been moved to the front of the machines and housed in protective covers and we have introduced Advanced Tine Control (ATC), an improved system of tine retention, which makes it even easier to remove and replace tines.

"Routine maintenance has been kept to a minimum, there are only 4 grease points on the GXi, and only 8 on the XDi and XFi, all with 100 .hour greasing intervals

"We believe that we have again moved the technology of deep aeration to another level. We are the innovators in this sector and I'm delighted to say that the new range was received with great enthusiasm from our dealer network. I would urge the industry to visit us at BTME and see for themselves."
