York-based turf specialist Lindum, has donated the unique living grass carpet called Wow!Grass! for this major event which will be attended by 900 guests. The turf was laid on Wednesday 6 June.
The York Minster Rose dinner celebrates Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee and the York Minster Rose, launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show last year, as well as raising as much money as possible for the York Minster Fund (Charity Number 252157), which raises money for the conservation and restoration of the fabric of York Minster.
Dr Richard Shephard, York Minster Chamberlain and Director of Development, says, "We are immensely grateful to all at Lindum for helping to make this dinner a spectacular event. The need for funds to restore and conserve the historic fabric of the Minster is never-ending and I am sure that this extraordinary event will do much to assist us in our work."
Stephen Fell, Managing Director, Lindum, says, "As a big supporter of the Minster and the fundraising team who tirelessly raise money to maintain its beauty and splendour for everyone, I'm delighted to be donating our Wow!Grass! for the York Minster Rose Dinner. The grass carpet will, I hope, create an incredible experience for the many guests attending this very special evening."
Please note that this is not a public event and the public will not be able to walk through the Main Nave from 6-8 June. The rest of York Minster will be open to the public as usual.
