Lindum’s New SedumPlus Takes Green Roofs To New Heights
Lindum's new SedumPlus, brings no less than sixteen varieties of home grown sedum together in one recycled felt mat, the perfect instant vegetation material for green roofs.
Launched at Ecobuild, this latest innovation from the grower whose Wildflower Meadow Turf and Wildflower and Sedum Mat graced the gardens of four silver medal winners at last year's Chelsea and the roof of Silver-Gilt winning Tyrrells Harvest Celebration garden at Hampton Court is grown at Lindum's Yorkshire turf farm under strict, ecological criteria.
"During production pesticide and fertiliser inputs are kept to a minimum and where possible, efficient foliar feeding systems are employed, reducing wastage," explains Lindum's MD Stephen Fell. "During dry periods, water for carefully regulated irrigation is drawn from boreholes in the sandstone aquifer below."
The fact that the plants are grown in the U.K. rather than Europe means less road miles, less stress on the plants and rapid delivery from field to roof promoting better establishment. British grown plants adapt better than their European counterparts to our UK climate.
The sixteen varieties provide interest throughout the growing season with colours ranging from greens and browns to vibrant reds, oranges and purples, and characteristic of all sedums, the plants are drought tolerant making them suitable for harsh growing conditions.
Already in use on the roofs of schools, libraries and residential developments, SedumPlus is ideal for greening the roofs of cricket pavilions, machinery sheds, golf clubhouses and football changing rooms.
Supplied in 1.2metre by 2metre rolls, SedumPlus can be applied to flat, sloping or curved green roofs. Advice is available from Lindum on build-up profiles and appropriate substrate depths if required.
