New compact tractors join John Deere 20 Series
More power, increased torque and lower fuel consumption are features of John Deere's new smallchassis compact tractors, which are based on the same modern styling and overall design as the mid and large chassis
models in the company's 20 Series range.
The 24hp 2320 and 26hp 2520 employ larger capacity, fuel efficient Tier 2 engines, which generate up to 10 per cent more power than the models they replace, but with lower emissions. Both models offer a new two-range hydrostatic transmission, with a higher maximum forward speed of 22kph on the 2520 model.
Mid-mounted rotary mower decks include a 60in rear discharge unit and two new 'drive-over' side discharge decks at 54in and 62in, which are equally easy and straightforward to hitch up and use.
For even greater versatility, the 2320 and 2520 offer a new front hitch and pto, compatible with the newly styled front loader, in addition to the standard mid-mounted pto. The loader's design allows fast attachment of 4-in-1 buckets, pallet forks, blades and a range of other implements.
Both front and rear axle loads have been increased, and maximum lift capacity at the category 1 three-point hitch is now 650kg. The operator's station incorporates a number of new features including the hand throttle, instrument panel, ergonomic pedals and comfortable seat, while the new optional deluxe cab offers improved visibility.
Service and maintenance are made easier by the tractor's flip-up hood, and there is a choice of turf or industrial tyres. The new John Deere 2520 compact tractor (as featured at Saltex 2005) is available from September 2005, while the smaller 2320 will be available in spring 2006.
New commercial mower is a first for John Deere
SALTEX 2005 sees the launch of a brand new John Deere commercial mower for local authorities and contractors.
The 7H17 Commercial hydrostatic walk-behind mower is the first designed by John Deere for European conditions with a dedicated rear discharge deck, and is ideal for a variety of demanding commercial grass cutting applications.
The fully floating 48in rotary mower deck is the same unit available for John Deere's new 717E zero-turn mower and X Series diesel lawn tractors, and is fabricated from heavy-duty 10 gauge steel for durability and a longer working life. The design provides a powerful vacuuming action to lift the grass and handle more material. Cutting heights can be quickly and easily changed from 25 to 114mm, in 6mm increments, and both front and rear anti-scalp gauge wheels are fitted as standard.
The hydro transmission control lever is conveniently positioned for on the move, infinitely variable speed changes, up to 6.3mph forward and 2.7mph reverse. A tracking knob allows adjustments to be made while mowing to maintain straight lines, if required for a tidier finish. All the controls are adjustable to be within comfortable reach of different operators.
The new 7H17 Commercial walk-behind mower is covered by John Deere's two-year warranty. Options include an electric start kit and a debris bag, which allows the operator to remove rubbish and potentially harmful items from the grass while mowing.
New Gators build on tradition of excellence
John Deere already offers the most comprehensive line-up of utility vehicles in the market, from the electric E Gator to the heavy duty diesel Pro Gator. The new T (for Traditional) Series are the latest additions to the Gator range, and are suitable for all kinds of transporting, loading, hauling, dumping and general materials handling duties.
T-Series Gators are faster and more powerful than the previous generation, while also offering more efficient braking, increased payloads and enhanced operator comfort, especially on rough terrain. The design of the throttle and brake pedals has been improved, and there is more legroom available for both operator and passenger.
The two-wheel drive TS Gator uses the same 10hp Kawasaki petrol engine as the compact CX Gator model launched in 2004, and replaces the previous entry level 4x2 vehicle. This has a top speed of 20mph, a cargo box capacity of 227kg plus total payload and towing capacities of 408kg.
The TX Turf Gator (featured at Saltex 2005) is equipped with a new, larger 13hp Kawasaki petrol engine, all-wheel suspension and all-round hydraulic disc brakes as standard. This has a top speed of 15mph, a cargo box capacity of 272kg plus total payload and towing capacities of 454kg.

John Deere Credit.
An increasing number of customers are buying equipment using planned replacement finance programmes.
John Deere Credit has announced a new finance programme for all John Deere compact utility tractors, under which customers may buy in two equal (within 12 months) or 12 monthly instalments at 0% interest, for orders placed by the end of January 2006. This programme can be tailored to the requirements of individual businesses ranging from landscaping contractors to garden centres.
