Steve, nicknamed Rebel, has been associated with the Club for over 40 years beginning in 1965 when he joined the Groundstaff then under the supervision of Bernard Flack.

Steve's professional career with Warwickshire CCC spanned 11 years from 1970-1981 in which he played 127 first-class games taking 270 wickets at an average of 30.78.

Steve took over the role as Head Groundsman in 1994 and has worked endlessly preparing both the domestic and test wickets at Edgbaston.

Commenting on the news Steve said, "I am delighted to receive this honour from the Club. I have been around for 41 years which is amazing really. I would like to thank all those who have supported me during both my cricket career at the Club and those who have worked alongside me during my time as groundsman."

Chief Executive, Colin Povey, said "Steve has given a lifetime of service to the Club and it is only right that he is awarded a testimonial year as a reward for his loyalty to Warwickshire CCC. I am sure I join everyone at the Club in wishing him all the best for next year and support for his programme of events."
