The Great Turf Company wins Business Innovation Award 2010
The Great Turf Company and its sister firm, The Great Lawn Company, were recognized for business excellence at the Fife Business Awards last week, picking up the Success Through Innovation Award at the exclusive award ceremony at The Vine, Dunfermline.
The Directors, Ian MacMillan and Andrew Turnbull, were ecstatic about being shortlisted for both the Success through Innovation and Most Enterprising Start-up Company categories back in September. Following presentations to a panel of judges against stiff competition, the company was announced as a finalist in both categories.
Following an extremely successful debut at IOG Scotsturf the previous week, the management team was delighted to be named as winners of the Innovation category, sponsored by St Andrews University and Fife Chamber of Commerce, which celebrated creativity and dynamism when delivering their innovative products to the lawn and turf care industry.
Following years of tests and trials of the company's unique 100% natural product range on fine turf and sports grounds, The Great Turf Company has enjoyed tremendous success since inception due to its innovative chemical free approach to turfgrass management. Over the past year alone, the company has gained high profile clients such as 5 Star hotels, Premiership football grounds and the UK's first chemical free golf course. The commercial products are currently being trialled at world famous golf course Gleneagles and Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen with great success thus far.
The Great Turf Company's unique Activated Microbial Turf Management system is about restoring the natural balance missing in modern turf management practices, using 100% natural self manufactured products which address all areas of the plant's growth cycle. The exclusive product range includes established product, carbohydrate fertiliser supplement MolTurf, as well as a new mix designed especially for enclosed stadium environments, aptly named MolTurf Stadia, which has proved a hit with professional football stadiums across the UK including a number of English Premiership teams.
The latest phenomenon, The Great Turf Company's compost tea system, Varietas, has revolutionised the world of turf care, with a number of golf courses installing Varietas Systems to improve soil life and produce top quality playing surfaces. These revolutionary products are teamed with expert consultancy from the Directors, training in the concept of natural turf care and professional turf management services to ensure a holistic and effective result.
The domestic side of the business, The Great Lawn Company, has also enjoyed outstanding success in the domestic lawn care market, gaining over 900 customers across Scotland in the last few months alone, proving that the company's unique chemical free approach really is the future of lawn and turf care.
The Business Awards have recognised the hard work and success the business has achieved in such a short time, and the management team is proud to receive the award. The company now looks forward to the Digital Entrepreneur Awards in December, in which The Great Lawn Company has been announced as a finalist in the Green Award category.
